Sweet Rolls
1 1/2 tbsp dry instant yeast
1/2 cup water
1 cup milk
2 eggs
3 oz butter (7tbsp)
2/3 cup sugar
vanilla extract
pinch of salt
5 cups flour
Toppings: Sugar, Cinnamon and almonds
1/2 stick of butter (melted)
Warm up the water, put the yeast in and mix.
Warm up the milk and add to the water with yeast.
Whip up the eggs with salt and add into the mixture.
Melt the butter and add sugar , mix until sugar is dissolved.
Add it to the mixture.
Add Vanilla Extract .
Sift the flour .
In small portions add all of the flour into the dough .
Knead the dough for good 5-10 minutes. If you have a mixer with hook attachment it will be a lot easier to use that.
Place the dough into a large bowl and slightly brush with some oil .
Cover with a plastic wrap and let it rise for about 2 hrs , then knead it down again and let rise for another hour .
For the toppings I used plain sugar, sugar mixed with cinnamon and sugar and shaved almonds.
Preheat the oven to 350* and line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
Take a small amount of dough and roll it into a circle, lightly brush it with melted butter and then put the topping.
Roll it into a roll, fold it in half and cut trough the middle . Open it up into a heart shape .
Place it on a baking sheet and bake for about 20-30 min depending on the size of the rolls.
