Easy Homemade Caramel
Homemade caramel goodness
1 1/2 cups sugar
3.5fl oz water
4 fl oz heavy cream
3.5 tbsp butter
In a heavy bottom saucepan combine sugar and water, give it a stir to make sure sugar is completely submerged in the water. Its IMPORTANT to use a saucepan with a ticker bottom for this recipe to avoid the syrup from burning and sticking to the pan. On a medium heat cook syrup until it reaches 375° without stirring it . Once the syrup has reached 375° warm up heavy cream in a microwave in two 30 seconds intervals and quickly stir it into the syrup. As soon as syrup and heavy cream are combined add butter. Pour hot caramel into a glass jar and let it cool completely before covering it with a lid .
* If you like your caramel to be salted add a pinch of salt to taste .
